A money market fund is a type of mutual fund that invests in short-term debt or cash keep up with inflation (unless you find one with a really high interest rate). A money market fund is a type of fixed income mutual fund that invests in debt subject to less interest rate risk than longer-maturing bond fund investments 

To make my selection, I combed through the list of money market mutual funds at MutualFunds.com and identified the money market mutual funds with the highest yields and lowest expenses with a minimum investment size of $1,000,000 or lower. I came up with a short list of 15 different money market mutual funds, Types of money market funds. Money market funds are categorized based on the types of investments in the fund.
